Description: A very aromatic, upright, compact perennial. Leaves have a mint-like odor when crushed. The blue / violet tubular flowers form dense spikes at the top of the main stems. Flower from June – August.
Family: Labiatae
Harvesting: Cut soft stems just before bloom & dry for medicinal uses.
Medicinal Uses: A tea can ease a sore throat and is an expectorant. A poultice can heal wounds and bruises.
Culinary Uses: None, but it is an excellent plant to attract bees, butterflies & hummingbirds.
Cultural Requirements: Well-drained soil in full sun / part shade
