Wisteria sinensis ‘Alba’

The Rhododendron yakashimanum hedge, by the pond, is on full display in May featuring the felted undersides of its leaves and bright white flowers. The pines are pruned in the Sukashi style, revealing the branches thinned in horizontal layers and held in place by wires. Stands of bamboo dot the landscape. The Red Japanese Maples (Acer palmatum ‘Atropurpureum’) came directly from Japan and were ceremonially planted by the Mayor of Chiba, North Vancouver’s sister city, in 1970.
Other highlights include the rock pathways, the arched bridge over the goldfish pond and an authentic Japanese tea house, where full traditional Tea Ceremonies take place.
