Yellow Garden Bed

Following the dark days of winter, the welcome appearance of Winter Aconite (Eranthus hymenalis) is a signal that spring will soon be upon us. The subsequent arrival of many varieties of cheerful yellow daffodils is a sign that spring is definitely here.

In addition to the spring bulbs, The Yellow Garden has many other interesting and attractive plants that abound in this bright garden.

Lining and anchoring the rear of the garden stands a hedge of yellow stemmed Dogwood (Cornus stolonifera ‘Midwinter Fire’).  The garden is also home to a collection of yellow-flowering perennials. Leafy yellow hostas and golden grasses also inhabit this site and in the summertime the garden is filled with sunny summer annuals.

The Yellow Garden is shaded by a huge, mature Magnolia sprengeri ‘Diva’ and a Magnolia stellata making the need for bright plants even more important. Be sure to look up in early to mid-spring to see their beautiful flowers and smell their wafting fragrance.
